Environmental Studies

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT / Preliminary Environmental Review (EIA/PER)

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a comprehensive study that identifies a comprehensive set of parameters including biodiversity, air, noise and water pollution, geotechnical risks, public safety, traffic and hazardous substance issues etc. and discloses possible positive or negative impact that a proposed project may have on the environment. However a Preliminary Environmental Review (PER) is conducted for small to medium sized facility having low potential environmental impacts. It is conducted relatively early in the design process in order to inform study decision-making and the level of environmental clearance that may ultimately be required.

Our partner EMC Gulf have over 20 years’ experience in the continent of providing Impact Assessment and Planning (IAP) input to projects in the oil and gas, land development, transport, infrastructure, and power sectors. ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL BASELINE STUDIES

Baseline studies are required to establish an environmental benchmark against which future change may be measured. This type of study helps in suggesting future strategy to comply with the regulatory requirements and to form a basis for any developing project. These studies often involve measurement of physical, chemical, biological and social parameters.

Our partner EMC Gulf has expertise of conducting Baseline Studies in the following to be determined areas:
• Meteorology
• Geology & Geomorphology
• Hydrology & Hydrogeology
• Ecological Studies
• Social Environment

EMC Gulf also has expertise in GIS Mapping including ground-truthing and image interpretation. This coupled with our skills in participatory needs analysis plus social and environmental appraisal means we are ideally equipped to advice on numerous aspects concerning health, education agriculture and com-munity participation and environmental education

OEMP is a site, project, or industry-specific plan developed to ensure that environmental management practices to eliminate and control environmental impacts are followed during commissioning and operation.

DEMP is a site-specific plan developed to ensure that appropriate environmental management practices are followed during the decommissioning phase of a project and to detail all remediation, site control, and monitoring activities that will continue once the immediate decommissioning activities are completed
